What will be your role?

Reporting to the Director of Strategic Partnerships and Innovation, the Application Engineer will be responsible or providing the l technical support on Bids and Proposal activities, generating bid responses and estimating work package for the Business Development from the origination phase to contract negotiation and hand over to Project team.

Proposal Preparation & Negotiation:

  • Preparing preliminary design packages for pricing tender opportunities on HVAC Systems and Specialized equipment. This will include heat load calculations, preliminary equipment and main component selections, as well as the development of a design dimensional concept for equipment.
  • Preparing Terms and Conditions of proposal response and participate in the preparation of specifications, bid packages, evaluation of tenders.
  • Review labour estimates, schedules, execution plans, inspection and test plans and project oversight plans. Gather input from stakeholder to ensure project requirements are captured and detailed in the project documents.
  • Define design methods and approach to be used
  • Organize documentation, including quotes, correspondence, requisitions, drawings (i.e., preliminary design, heat load calculations, capacity calculations, equipment selection, duct design, design specifications, letters, etc.)
  • Prepare and/or review engineering documentation as required.
  • Participate in the coordination of design development with design team members on Design-Build projects.
  • Assist in the identification of new projects
  • Support the Bid team in contract negotiations and contract closure.
  • Provide technical assistance to the Spare Parts team and recommend replacement to obsolescence parts/solutions.

Business Development and Repeat Business:

  • Participate in the development of Business Plans
  • Prepare marketing tools as necessary (e.g., website, advertising, articles, etc.)
  • Report trends, bid status, etc. to team during weekly updates
  • Maintain knowledge of competitor products and identify and report intelligence on competitor pricing or marketing strategies.

Goals and Monitoring:

  • Setting relevant personal goals and measures in line with business plan
  • Collecting and reporting measures


Which candidate profile are we looking for?

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or certified system maintainer/operator.
  • 4-7 years of experience in ship design or shipbuilding with HVAC system engineering design or experience operating/maintaining HVAC systems.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written with strong relational skills (English).
  • Excellent organization skills and capacity to juggle multiple tasks and resources.
  • Excellent business acumen for long term development is highly desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to succeed in an entrepreneurial environment.
