What will be your role?

Reporting to the ISS Manager, the Refrigeration Technician, will act as a technically trained and experienced individual with an exceptional hands-on skill set to work with the existing highly qualified team in areas of prototyping, development, and testing of our refrigeration and cooling equipment.
Planning and Coordinating Installation:
• Plan daily work of installers and direct /assist installation crew
• Verifies that required materials are brought to the site and plans ahead to ensure that materials required a few weeks out is flagged to the Project Manager.
• Ensures that the installation work is in accordance with the designs and that it respects quality and timeliness standards specified by the Project Manager
• Flag Manager if the technical quality of the installation or equipment or the timelines are in jeopardy or if the projected workload required demand additional staffing or other support in the field
Installation Responsibilities:
• Carry out HVAC installation, which includes installation of DND Engineering Changes (EC’s), Bronswerk Equipment etc.
• Assess job site and set up equipment prior to commencing work;
• Assist with install ducting & equipment as per diagrams and direction from the foreman with the Vancouver team;
• Ensure system is prepared for commissioning as per checklists and assist Engineers and Technicians in equipment testing and commissioning;
• Troubleshoot both mechanical and electrical aspects of chillers, refrigeration, cooling units prior to onboard ships;
• Harbour and Sea Acceptance testing of refrigeration systems as required;
• Provide routine progress updates, may be called to provide photographs of work completed to submit to client.
• Follow safety protocol and comply with safety and occupational standards.
• Ability to take on the lead-hand role on equipment installation projects and have strong trouble-shooting skills in field service applications.
• Implement and maintain Predictive Planned Maintenance duties for all HVAC-R equipment and controls.
• Install commission and service HVAC-R
• Working knowledge and ability to read and work from HVAC-R, mechanical and electrical schematics, line drawings.
• Technical aptitude and able to disassemble, repair, reassemble existing mechanical equipment, install new equipment, refrigerant lines etc. in a good workmanlike manor.
• Complete work orders, deficiency reports, field quotations, estimates and weekly time summaries in a timely fashion.
• Familiar with basic PC software, smartphone and tablet applications.

Which candidate profile are we looking for?

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a shipyard
• Ability to read and interpret HVAC equipment and system diagrams
• Experience with ducting /piping installation work
• Experience with air conditioning applications, cooling towers and industrial chillers.
• Ability to read drawings (refrigeration, electrical and assembly drawings)
• Demonstrated coordinating and directing ability in similar environment
• Computer Literate including Microsoft Office Suite; Word and Excel
