What will be your role?

Reporting to the Installation Manager, the Mechanical Fitter will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing all installation and fabrication related jobs. He will ensure that assigned activities are timed and completed in accordance with established quality standards and practices. In addition, the Mechanical Fitter will take responsibility for the quality and quantity of work as well as the safety and cleanliness of his/her work area.
Coordinating & Installing HVAC-R Components
• Receives daily work plan from the Lead Hand
• Works with assigned crew members to execute the daily work plan
• Verifies that required materials are brought to the site
• Respects quality and timeliness standards specified by the lead hand and in the drawings
• Reads and interprets drawings and specifications to determine installation/fabrication requirements.
• Measures and cuts material and coverings to the required shape and dimension.
• May perform other related duties assigned.
Site Administration
• Provides daily progress updates
• Reports all field problems encountered
• Maintains good attendance, work ethic, and notifies the Lead Hand of any issues
• Provides verification of progress of installation
Workshop – Manufacturing ducting and fittings
• Operating manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments using processes such as gas tungsten arc (TIG or GTAW), gas metal arc (MIG or GMAW)
• Operating and setting up a variety of equipment to shape sheet metal, manufacture required duct fittings as per engineering drawings
• Studying engineering drawings and blueprints to determine the required materials and plan the sequence of tasks to cut metal most efficiently, as well as identifying specific customer requirements
• Inspecting materials for quality and conformance prior to usage and correct any inconsistencies
• Requesting/coordinating required materials from Bronswerk warehouse are brought to the manufacturing site
• Adhering to all quality control/assurance procedures
• Keeping tools and work area clean and tidy
• Flags Installation/Production Manager if the timelines are in jeopardy.
• May be called to assist with HVAC-R on-board installation

Which candidate profile are we looking for?

• Minimum 2 years of related experience
• Journeyman ticket (an asset)
• Able to read and interpret drawings
• Demonstrated good work quality and ability to work steadily to meet project timelines
• Fast-paced environment
• Physically demanding; bending, crouching, kneeling
• Confined or restricted areas; Noisy.
All successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and a Canadian Government Security clearance.
