Project Engineer - Pascagoula, MI

Works with the Project Manager to design and deliver most cost effective HVAC solution for several medium-sized marine projects and ensure adherence to contractual requirements.  The Project Engineer is accountable for both the quality and soundness of the design and the accuracy of the detail design of the HVAC system.  Actively participates in the execution of the project with the team, often called upon to multi-task effectively and support multiple projects simultaneously.  Represents Bronswerk Group in interactions with the client and liaises with headquarters and with on-site installation team to ensure on-going open communications. 

Responsibilities


Project Execution

  • Provides input to the project planning process, assesses the time required for the project engineering and the detailed design tasks
  • Designs HVAC installations for naval applications (Merchant, Navy and Offshore) in line with contractual requirements including the detail design of installations such as ducting & piping design.
  • Provides recommendations to Project Manager regarding component requirements and selection for use in safe and hazardous/contaminated areas
  • Analyses system costs including labour (detailed design, engineering, testing, installation) and components for review with the Project Manager
  • Calculates heat loads, pressure drops for ducting and piping systems, equipment capacities, duct sizing
  • Works with detail design specialists to prepare final drawings, Bill of Materials for procurement, Technical Specifications Data Sheets, air flow diagrams, and all other supporting documentation required in the contract. 
  • Conducts configuration control on engineering documents
  • Designs control systems (including electrical drawings)
  • May be called to support start up / air Balancing  of the HVAC systems


Customer Management

  • Acts as the primary point of contact with the customer
  • Maintains communications with customer to identify and resolve issues and risk
  • Coordinates with Project Team in Montreal to address client design issues, challenges and concerns

Contract Management

  • Monitor contract delivery (i.e., specifications, costs and customer satisfaction)
  • May assist in the development and negotiation of contractual agreements and/or change requests

Background

A Minimum Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering with 5-7 years of HVAC engineering experience, working knowledge of Refrigeration Systems is an asset.  English both written and spoken is essential.

Project Engineer - Electrical Systems & Controls, Montreal (Canada)

Works in concert with the Project Manager to design and develop control systems (including electrical, algorithm and software design) for Heating, Ventilating, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVAC-R) Systems installed in large marine vessels.  Acts as the company “expert” in Electrical Systems and Control Systems and contributes to Bronswerk by advancing the company’s level of knowledge and capabilities within discipline.  This is a key role that requires advanced knowledge of Electrical Supply Systems and Controls. 

Responsibilities


Project Execution

  • Responsible for Electrical Control Projects with significant scope and complexity
  • Enjoys challenges and has experience in all aspects of control arrangements and power supply and software development delivering customer focused control systems for HVAC-R solutions in line with contractual requirements
  • Possesses problem solving skills as well as has experience using a variety of simulation tools are desirable.
  • Designs, redesigns and supports product design and development; provides technical support on projects, feasibility studies, and profitability assessments.
  • Supports field Engineers during start-up and commissioning.
  • Provides input to the project planning process, assesses the time required for the project engineering and the detailed design tasks
  • Works closely with other teams such as Refrigeration and/or HVAC projects teams to design and  integrate appropriate electrical systems and controls
  • Analyses system costs including labour (detailed design, engineering, testing, installation) and components for review


Customer  & Sub-Contractor Management

  • Interfaces with the customers to identify functional requirements and identify vendors as needed.
  • Ensures (with sub-contractors) that control system design steps are followed including creation of software specifications, specification reviews, software design reviews, and code reviews.
  • Maintains communications with customer to identify and resolve issues and risks
  • Manages customer expectations in line with contractual requirements

Contract Management

  • Monitor contract delivery (i.e., specifications, costs and customer satisfaction)
  • May assist in the development and negotiation of contractual agreements and/or change requests

Background

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 7 to 10 years of direct experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. English both written and spoken is essential.

  • Has a strong background in control systems theory and have a demonstrated history of successful control system designs and implementation including theoretical automatics.
  • Is knowledgeable about the Canadian Electrical Code, NEC and IEC
  • Demonstrated skills in project development from concept through to production
  • Has strong root cause analysis and troubleshooting skills
  • Knowledge and experience with EMI/ EMC and EMP products is a definite asset
  • Is familiar with HVAC Systems, basic thermodynamic principles and the refrigeration cycle are a plus.
