What does this role entail?

Reporting to the VP Finance, the Procurement Manager will be responsible for planning, organizing, directing and controlling the procurement function of the company. This role is to effectively and efficiently oversee all activities related to procurement of electronic purchasing and logistics system.
This individual will utilize expert knowledge to purchase goods and services that meet quality requirements and specifications at the most favorable price for the company, while simultaneously building and maintaining strategic relationships with key suppliers.
Working in collaboration with the procurement team to:
• Plan and prioritize purchasing and delivery activities.
• Perform best practices and legal obligations in the planning phase of procurement.
• Negotiate best prices and terms for all purchasing contracts.
• Ensure key terms and conditions or special instructions (e.g. invoicing and shipping instructions) are consistently captured in POs.
• Follows up with vendors to confirm orders and ensure the accuracy of order requirements.
• Documenting existing and new suppliers for all key HVAC-R components and equipment.
• Enhance the participation of local suppliers in the supply chain network to support the local content requirements for North America’s projects.
• Continuously search the market for new purchasing opportunities and origins.
• Oversee the development of streamlined electronic purchasing and logistics system and processes so as to sustain long term business growth.
• Participate in ISO supplier evaluation and corrective follow-up.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of purchasing policies, procedures, suppliers’ claims process (NCRs, re-stocking, returns, etc.).
• Manage, mentor and share best practices with the procurement team.
• Review the importance of managing vendor relationships and explore how to apply the win/win approach to your discussions.
• Conduct ongoing risk assessment throughout the contract term.
• Liaise with Accounts Payable, and vendors to provide information and resolve any discrepancies or issues affecting payment of invoices.
• Achieve bottom line financial; responsible for controlling and achieving the budgeted savings targets.
• Accountable for terms and conditions documented on POs.

What candidate profile are we looking for?

• 7-10 years of relevant experience in a similar position.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline (such as a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering or Science) plus courses in purchasing and financial management; PMP/CSCP certification.
• Experience working in a project base company (an asset).
• Experience establishing local supply chain (an asset).
• Strong understanding of key legal terms relevant to corporate contracts.
• Experience creating a negotiating plan and leading negotiation efforts on purchase agreements and/or vendor contracts.
• Has working knowledge of Microsoft NAV ERP. Experience with the following software will be taken into consideration: SAP, JD Edwards, Oracle, Axapta, Baan, Syspro, Syteline, Vantage.
• Knowledge of international business and customs regulations is required.
• Bilingual French and English.
• Demonstrates excellent leadership, communication and negotiation skills with high customer service focus.
• Very strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, able to identify issues, propose viable solutions, and implement appropriate changes.
• Strong attention to detail with ability to balance short-term and long-term priorities.
